Faculty Brief

Since its establishment in 1990 as the first private university in Jordan and the Arab world, Al-Ahliyya Amman University (AAU) has been committed to providing the academic and social environment necessary to achieve a prominent position among Jordanian and Arab universities. The university has consistently focused on creating a suitable climate for the development of academic programs that align with the demands of qualitative advancements in higher education, particularly in light of rapid changes in information technology and the evolving needs of the local and regional labor markets. In 1998, the Deanship of Scientific Research was established to oversee and support the development of scientific research in both basic and applied fields. With the approval of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the university launched its first graduate program, a Master of Law, in the academic year of 2005-2006. Following this development, the deanship was officially renamed the Deanship of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research in 2005. This initiative contributed significantly to enhancing the university's role in higher education, scientific research, and community service. Driven by a commitment to its leading role in academic research, the university's administration worked to provide the material and technical resources required to launch several additional graduate programs. In the 2018-2019 academic year, the Faculty of Graduate Studies became an independent faculty and continued to introduce and expand its program offerings. The most recent additions are the Medical Law and Ethics program as well as Data Science and Artificial Intelligence program bringing the total number of Master's programs to 22 by the 2025-2026 academic year. The current graduate programs are distributed across ten different faculties: Arts and Sciences, Law, Business, Pharmacy, Allied Medical Sciences, Engineering, Architecture and Design, Nursing, Information Technology, and Educational Sciences. The specific specializations offered are detailed in the faculty brochure.
